Problem
Berndaette presented with intermittent back pain, occuring over the previous eight months. Initally, she experiecned a tingling in the right leg and this developed into right leg pain radiating into the lower back.
The clinical indication was that she had some parathesia in the right leg and was experiencing disc degeneration. There were also indications of lateral recess stenosis on the left side at the L4/L5 level.
Solution
In Bernadette's initial consultation, it was recommended that she undergo a right L5/S1 Focal Lumbar Decompression surgical procedure.
Following the surgery, she reported a complete resolution of her right leg pain, albeit with mild back stiffness at times.
Bernadette has engaged in a graduated strengthening programme with her local physiotherapist and will commence weight-based exercises at Neurospine in two months time.
Her's words
I have nothing but high praise for the treatment I received at the Sports Surgery Clinic, under Mr. Michael Kelleher.
Mr Kelleher was very professional and made it very easy for me to understand in advance all the details of my procedure, which was to be a lumbar decompression and cyst removal.
I was treated so well from the pre-op visit to the post-op care afterwards. They went as far as breaking down the medication I had to take afterwards into a timetable.
My stay in the clinic was enjoyable. Everyone on the staff was so nice, friendly and professional, which goes a long way when you are nervous about a forthcoming surgery. I would highly recommend to anyone who is suffering from pain to attend here.
I am now completely pain-free and I cannot thank Mr Kelleher enough.
